Headteacher’s Welcome
Message from the Headteacher
As Headteacher, I would like to warmly welcome you to Garfield Primary School. I have been Head here since September 2006 and seen the school through many exciting changes and developments. It is an absolute pleasure and joy to work at Garfield and a role that is one of both the head and heart.
I am delighted you have chosen to find out more about us. I hope you find our website informative and that you see we are a friendly and ambitious school.
We enjoy welcoming pupils to join us and have the space and facilities to become a 3 form entry school. Our last Ofsted Inspection in March 2019 confirmed again, that we are a securely ‘good’ school in all categories. We are now well on our journey to becoming ‘outstanding’ as we have a strong team of experienced leaders, governors and staff. We have the highest expectations for everyone; ourselves, the pupils, parents and all those that provide a service for us . Our home school agreement will give you a flavour of this.
We are immensely proud to be a multi-cultural and multi-faith school. We hold whole school assemblies every Friday and these include those that celebrate and explain all the main religious faiths and festivals throughout the year.
Our wonderful Helping Hands group of parents put on many events to not only raise money but to continue making sure we have a great community spirit at Garfield . Always an inclusive group, with all parents encouraged to play their part, recently they have organised a series of sales after school that also link in with our celebrated festivals .
We moved into our brand new school in June 2016 and it has amazing facilities for the pupils both indoors and outdoors .We had a clear vision for our new school and played a major role in its creation. If you visit , you will see that your child would be learning with fantastic facilities. We believe that Garfield Primary offers our pupils the very best educational opportunities within an inspirational learning environment.
We have always believed in the importance of a broad and rich curriculum which is why we ensured that we have a school library , ICT suite, Music room, Nurture room , DT and Food Technology room, a large hall that subdivides into 3 halls and large outdoor grounds. We haven’t finished developing our school and continue to grow and develop each year.
Our vision and values are integral to all we do at Garfield. Please read them to understand what we stand for.
Prospective parents are more than welcome to visit the school. I conduct tours regularly and these can be arranged by contacting the school office. Dates are regularly scheduled and are on the website.
You will often see me at one of the school gates (come rain or shine). I really enjoy seeing all of our wonderful pupils and families at the beginning or end of the school day . It is important to me to be seen around the school and to always be approachable .
We are a friendly, ambitious and inclusive school and work hard to build a positive relationship with each child and family.
