Keith Carrano – Chair of Governors

I have been a school Governor for over twenty years and have been Chair of Governors for Garfield Primary since 2014. I am a local Leader of governance for Enfield schools and I am currently also Chair of Governors for Enfield County School, Trustee for Enfield Learning Trust and Vice Chair of Governors for Highlands School.  Most of my career in senior management has been in Risk and Compliance working for PwC.  After twenty years’ service, I have now retired allowing me more time to support schools in Enfield. 

Chris Hyland – Co-opted Governor – Vice Chair

I am a co-opted Governor and am chair of the Finance and Staffing Committee. I am also the co-vice chair of a secondary school in Enfield, Chace Community School. I have been a Governor for a little over 3 years, a time in which I have seen Garfield into the nicest school building in the Borough. I am very proud of the excellent teaching and leadership in this school and am very happy to service on the Governing Board.’

Daxa Panchal – Co-opted Governor

I am co–opted Governor at Garfield. I joined Garfield in 2001 as an Admin Officer, then Office Manager, and now in my current role as School Business Manager. Prior to joining Garfield my previous roles were in Computer programming and then Finance. I have been married for almost 30 years with 2 children. I have been part of the Premises and Finance & Staffing since I became a Governor, and have played an active role to help shape our new school.

Alfred Donker – LA Governor

I have extensive experience in commissioning, procurement and contract management of local government services. A resident of Enfield, I currently lead the children’s commissioning team in Royal Borough of Greenwich, working in partnership with private, voluntary and independent sector organisations to provide high quality services and improve outcomes for children and young people.

Saikou Sanyang – Co-opted Governor

I am a Chartered Manager (CMI), Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Deputy Head of a School of Health and Care at a post-1992 University in England, where I also facilitate the NHS Leadership Academy Rosalind Franklin Senior Leaders Programme.

My experience spans education and healthcare, and I have worked in various capacities, including interim Head of the School of Business and Management. Before working in Higher Education, I worked in clinical research, healthcare, and social care management. My research interests are in the following areas: curriculum development, healthcare leadership, work-based learning, and public health.

Max Massey – Co-opted Governor

I am a Co-opted Governor at Garfield Primary school and have been since spring 2023. This is my first experience of being a School Governor, but it continues to prove itself as more rewarding and enjoyable as the time goes on. I am a construction management professional and have been for the past 9 years.

I form part of the Finance & Resources and Premises Committees at Garfield Primary School and look forward to offering my time and dedication where necessary, to such a great school.

Elizabeth Clery – Co-opted Governor

I have been a co-opted governor at Garfield since spring 2023. I am a retired teacher, having spent my career in primary education (EY and KS1) and then Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEN/D) across the whole age range. I have a special interest in literacy, particularly reading, and volunteer in the school to support this area.

I was previously a governor in my children’s secondary school.

Menekse Mileiko: – Parent Governor

I have 2 children at Garfield Primary school.  I’m very excited to be a Parent Governor and my role as part of the Governing body at Garfield Primary. I have a Law background and am very eager to learn and elevate the school and its pupils to great heights.

Marianna Gkaidou – Parent Governor

As a parent of two children who are currently enrolled at Garfield School, I am deeply invested in their education and well-being. I have been a store manager for over 10 years, and I possess a range of valuable skills that can be transferred to a parent governor role.  Here I wanted to express my gratitude for the opportunity to serve as a parent governor at our school. I am thrilled to be able to contribute my knowledge, skills, and experiences to support the school in providing the best possible learning environment for all our students.

Bullent Asim – Staff Governor

I am a Staff Governor and have been a dedicated member of the team at Garfield Primary School since 2015. I initially joined Garfield as the IT technician and, following the successful transition into our new school building, now serve as the ICT Network Manager.

This marks my first appointment as a Governor, and I currently contribute to the Teaching and Learning Committee. I have over 30 years of experience in the IT industry across diverse sectors, including Education, Housing, and Tour Operations.

I welcome the opportunity to apply my knowledge and expertise in contributing to the school’s future growth and development, while also supporting both new and existing pupils with the aim of ensuring they achieve the best possible outcomes.

Elections for Parent-Governors are held when a vacancy occurs. All parents of children at Garfield may stand for election and all may vote for Parent-Governors when elections are held.
